KUCHING, Sept 3: A former security guard, now unable to work due to illness, will receive financial assistance from the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO), thanks to the intervention of Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap.
In a statement today, Yap said the man used to work as a security guard in Johor but could not continue with his employment and returned home after he fell sick.
He resides at Stampin Resettlement Scheme. Since he is not married, the man is currently being taken care of by his sister.
Yap said the man’s sister has sought his help to find out further information on the contributions made by her brother’s employer to SOCSO and whether he is entitled to apply for any benefits from them.
Upon hearing the predicament faced by the man, Yap brought the matter up for the attention of SOCSO and also assisted with the application process on this man’s entitlement to claim for financial benefits from SOCSO.
This afternoon, Yap together with SOCSO director Tan Phang Chia and his officer visited the sick individual to inform that he is entitled to financial assistance from SOCSO.
Kota Sentosa constituents who come across similar problems of public interest but does not know how to deal with it, are encouraged to come forward to Yap’s Kota Sentosa service centre.
Anyone requiring assistance can always contact Yap’s service centre at 082-265513 or 011-31893319 or go directly to the premises at E-2-25, 2nd Floor, Gala Street Mall, Gala City, Jalan Tun Jugah, Kempas Heights, 93350 Kuching. — DayakDaily
