KUCHING, Feb 1: A former security guard of an all-girls school claimed trial to a charge of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Bau.
The 24-year-old accused pleaded not guilty to the charge framed under Section 14(1) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries imprisonment of up to 20 years and with whipping, upon conviction.
Sessions Court Judge Maris Agan released the accused on RM5,000 cash bail with one local surety and fixed March 9 for case management.
The accused was charged with touching the teenage girl’s private part, breast and thigh, at the girl’s school dormitory, at about 1.35am on January 18, 2023.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Ruvinasini Pandian prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
