Former PSB supporters from longhouses in Sibu submit membership forms to join PBB instead

Meyu (fifth from right) receives a new membership form from Jangit.

SIBU, Oct 25: With three weeks left before the 15th General Election (GE15), a total of 200 supporters of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) from Rumah Jangit Lanting, Igu, Tamin and Rumah Stanley Setia, Kampung Sebintik, Batu 24, Jalan Oya near here have quit to join Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).

They have submitted their membership forms to the Head of PBB Branch N59 Tamin, Meyu Beruang during a ceremony at their respective longhouses on Sunday.

At Rumah Jangit, a total of 98 new membership forms were submitted while Rumah Stanley sent a total of 102 new membership forms.

Rumah Jangit is the longhouse of Datuk Joseph Entulu, a former Selangau MP who is also a PSB candidate for the Tamin seat.

As for Rumah Stanley, it is also one of the strongholds of PSB, which was a staunch supporter of Entulu during the last State Election.

However, they have decided not to support PSB in GE15.

Jangit said today maybe they used to be ‘blind’ and “followed the will of their hearts too much”, which eventually “led them down the wrong path”.

“We are very grateful to PBB Tamin who is willing to accept us.

“Now we have opened our eyes and realised there is a ray of light in the government party,” he explained.

He assured that about 300 of his people will continue to support the GPS candidate who is contesting in the Selangau Parliamentary seat in GE15.

“We regret (our previous decision) and at the same time we can see that only the GPS government can provide development.

“By being given the opportunity to join PBB, we hope to no longer lag behind in terms of development,” he said.

Meawnhile, Meyu congratulated the two longhouse residents led by their respective Tuai Rumah.

He said PBB Tamin was open to recruiting new members in areas that were considered ‘grey areas’ in the last general election.

By recruiting this membership, he said, PBB Tamin now has a total of 4,356 members. — DayakDaily
