KUCHING, Jan 8: Former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Parliament) Dato Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Datin Sri Fauziah Mohd Sanusi held their second wedding reception in Kuching after the first in Kuala Lumpur last month.

This is part of the Malay wedding tradition where the first wedding and reception ceremony will take place at the bride’s home and the second reception ceremony would be held at the groom’s house after a certain period.

Nowadays, the process has been simplified as such that the reception ceremony does not necessarily take place at home but at other places such as hotels or community halls.

Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof and his wife Datin Sri Ruziah Mohd Tahir attended at the ceremony held at Dewan Majma Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah here earlier tonight.

Amongst those present were Deputy Premier of Sarawak Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian; Sarawak Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah; Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk John Sikie Tayai; and former Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan.

Wan Junaidi, 77, tied the knot with Fauziah on Dec 10 last year.

This is Wan Junaidi’s second marriage. His first wife, Datin Seri Norjanah Feona Sim Abdullah, passed away on May 27 last year.

Through his previous marriage, Wan Junaidi was blessed with three daughters. — DayakDaily
