KUCHING, July 28: A former DAP man, Sanjan Daik, is rumoured to be the most likely candidate to contest in Mambong under PSB in the upcoming state elections.

Sanjan, when contacted today, said Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) has hinted that he is the choice.

“About the hint (that I will be the candidate), yes, there already is.

“And if the party allows it, I am prepared and willing to become the candidate to contest in the seat (Mambong),” Sanjan said.

Separately, a source also confirmed that Sanjan is PSB’s choice for Mambong.

“Yes, Sanjan, who is lawyer is the choice (of the party) to contest in Mambong,” said the source, who is among the top PSB leaders in Mambong.

Sanjan, who contested in Mambong in the 2016 state election left Democratic Action Party (DAP) on July 13.

In his immediate interview after quitting the party, Sanjan said he will consider joining any political party if there is any “good offer”, but dismissed the possibility of joining Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

Sanjan in the 2016 state election was a runner-up after Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, losing with 3,333 votes.

The three-cornered contest in the election also involved Willie Mongin from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), who garnered 2,645 votes. — DayakDaily
