KUCHING, April 19: A total of 238 households from the low income group at Taman Riverview in Pending have received food aid from the Sarawak government.

Political secretary to the Chief Minister Tan Kai in a statement disclosed the aid was delivered within the N10 Pending constituency by Kapitan Chung Chun and his team over the past two weeks.

“The food aid was first delivered on 5th April, 2020, while the remaining was delivered in batches.

“I was informed by Kapitan Chung, that the hardcore poor families received the food aid as priority, and for others such as the daily paid and low income families, they received the aid in the following batches,” he added.

Tan Kai also revealed that among the items delivered were rice, sugar, flour, cooking oil and biscuits, which was received by the Kuching Divisional Disaster Management Committee under the Kuching Resident Office.

In order to avoid mass gatherings when distributing food aid, Chung and his team delivered the supplies on a “door-to-door” basis, to reduce physical contact with recipients and at the same time, maintain social distancing.

He added that Chung also express his gratitude to the Sarawak government for helping the poor families at such a difficult moment. — DayakDaily
