Food aid delivery personnel feared drowned after boat capsizes in Sg Ensiring

JULAU, April 8: A man is feared drown after the longboat he was travelling in capsized in Sungai Ensiring yesterday after distributing food aid to the poor.

Julau district police chief, Deputy Supt Usmuni Umar disclosed two others who were in the same boat managed to swim to safety.

He said at about 5pm, the trio had just distributed food aid to rural folk in Sungai Nilau, Ulu Julau and were returning to their base when their boat capsized.


The police report on the incident was only received at 10.37am today.

A search and rescue operation involving Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) and police personnel, as well as longhouse residents was immediately launched to search for the victim, 35.

Meluan assemblyman, Rolland Duat Jubin was also involved in the programme to distribute food aid to eight of the nine longhouses in the area who were affected by the movement control order.
