Fong Chai Xin wins silver in Wushu for Sarawak at Sukma 2024

KUCHING, Aug 16: Sarawak’s Fong Chai Xin made her mark at the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2024 by securing a silver medal with her exceptional performance in the women’s Gunshu event at the Wushu Training Centre in Petra Jaya today.

Her skillful execution earned her a commendable score of 9.496 to contribute to Sarawak’s medal tally in the prestigious national games.

However, the spotlight of the event was on Melaka’s Wong Kai Xin, who continued her winning streak with a second gold medal.

Wong, who had already triumphed in the women’s Daoshu event the day before, showcased her dominance once again in the Gunshu event.

Her outstanding routine earned her a top score of 9.603, solidifying her position as a leading athlete in the competition.

The bronze medal was awarded to Penang’s Coleen Cheah Wei Qi, who delivered a strong performance with a score of 9.486.

The Women’s Gunshu event was the third event of the day, attracting a field of eight talented athletes from across the country.
