Flood forces 37 in Engkilili longhouse to be evacuated

SRI AMAN, May 26: A total of 37 flood victims from Rumah Lembu, Entalun Skrang in Engkilili here were transferred to the flood relief centre at Dr Johnical Rayong Hall after their homes were flooded yesterday (May 25) evening.

As per the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), they received notification of the incident at 5.15pm, prompting the dispatch of firefighters from the Betong fire station to the location.

Bomba also mentioned that firefighters from the Sri Aman fire station assisted those from the Betong fire station.

ā€œUpon arrival at the scene, Sri Aman firefighters assisted Betong firefighters in launching a rescue boat to transport flood victims to the flood relief centre at Dr Johnical Rayong Hall.

ā€œAll flood victims were safely evacuated. At 8.35pm, Engkilili assemblyman Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa arrived at the centre.

ā€œAt 9.30pm, the chief of the Betong fire station with two firefighters arrived at the centre. PBK II KUP Mohd Nazaruddin handed over the task to the chief of the Betong fire station and promptly left for the station,ā€ it said.

The 37 flood victims include two baby girls, two boys, six girls, seven male adults, 11 female adults, two male elders, five female elders, and two females with disabilities.
