SIBU, April 22: Many low-lying areas in Sibu town were inundated under more than one foot of flood water following a heavy downpour yesterday, including the front section of the Jalan Oya Polyclinic.

When contacted, Sibu Division Health Officer, Dr Teh Joh Hun, revealed the flood water did not enter the polyclinic building despite the front section being heavily flooded.

“There was no damage reported inside the polyclinic as water did not seep in. However we will need to raise the front part by at least two feet,” he disclosed, adding that they would seek funding from the Health Ministry for this.

The downpour which started around 4.30pm lasted for about 80 minutes.
