SARIKEI, Aug 10: Five out of 20 fishing vessels anchored near Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) port in Tanjung Manis here were engulfed in an early morning fire today.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak, firefighters from the Tanjung Manis station are actively working to extinguish the flames as of 7.26am.
These fishing vessels, owned by the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), were docked at the LKIM port for repair purposes.

In response to a distress call at 5.21am, a team of six firefighters led by PB Norismendi Mohammad was dispatched.
Their swift action succeeded in gaining control over the fire’s spread by 5.40am. — DayakDaily
