KUCHING, Nov 19: Five schools in Tanjung Manis, Mukah have received a total of 429 digital devices distributed under the Tabung Cerdik initiative.
According to a report from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin said the digital devices were distributed on Oct 29.
“All 150,000 digital devices under the Tabung Cerdik initiative have been distributed, and from the total number of devices, 429 units have been distributed to five schools in the Tanjung Manis constituency,” he said.
Dr Mohd Radzi said this when replying to a question from Tanjung Manis MP Yusuf Abd Wahab during the Parliamentary session on Thursday.
He explained that Tabung Cerdik is an initiative to provide digital devices complete with data plans to 150,000 B40 students and was implemented by Yayasan Hasanah, a foundation under Khazanah Nasional.
He noted Tabung Cerdik is a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative by a government-linked company (GLC) and government-linked investment company (GLIC).
“Yayasan Hasanah is responsible for managing the contribution of the digital devices including the data plans, as well as coordinating the delivery of digital devices to the District Education Office (PPD), while the Ministry of Education (MoE) is responsible for identifying B40 students who are eligible to received the digital devices according to the set criteria, and also manage the distribution of the devices,” he said. — DayakDaily
