Five new Covid-19 cases in Kuching, Miri and Bintulu traced to Greenhill Cluster

KUCHING, Nov 1: Five out of 11 new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak are close contacts from the Greenhill Cluster here.

On top of two new positive cases in Kuching, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) revealed the cluster had also recorded one case in Miri and two in Bintulu.


As for the remaining six new cases reported today, three are close contacts of Case 866. The fourth case is a local man, whose result was confirmed through a symptomatic screening test. The fifth case was found positive after returning from a Covid-19 high risk area, while the sixth case is a health officer in Miri.

With this, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak stands at 892.

No new clusters were reported in the state today. The five clusters which remain active are the Baki Cluster, Greenhill Cluster, Bah Arnab Cluster and Seladah Cluster in Kuching, and the Putra Cluster in Bintulu.

The committee also disclosed that five cases have recovered and were discharged from hospitals. No patients are warded in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and no new deaths have been reported.

Meanwhile, a total of 13 new Person-Under-Investigation (PUI) cases were reported, with three cases awaiting laboratory test results.

SDMC also revealed there are 175 Persons-Under-Surveillance (PUS) who are registered into various hotels across Sarawak to be quarantined.

There is now a total of 2,631 individuals under quarantine in 24 hotels throughout Sarawak while 28,780 PUS have completed their 14-day quarantine so far. — DayakDaily
