KUCHING, Feb 8: Five more medical personnel have been found to be infected by Covid-19, pushing the total number of infections among healthcare providers in the state to 114 since Jan 25, 2021.
According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) daily Covid-19 report, out of the five new Covid-19 cases among healthcare workers today, two are from Bintulu District.
Meanwhile, the remaining three cases are from medical centres in Sibu, Miri and Kapit districts respectively.
Yesterday three medical staff were confirmed to be positive for Covid-19. On Feb 6, two medical staff from health facilities in Song and Kanowit respectively were reported positive.
On Jan 25, State Health Department Director Dr Chin Zin Hing told DayakDaily that there were a total of 53 medical officers across four major hospitals in Sarawak who had tested positive for the coronavirus.
Subsequently on Jan 26, five more cases involving medical staff were reported.
On Jan 29, SDMC disclosed that there were nine new infections, and thereon, the total continued to rise with one new case on Jan 30, three on Jan 31, six on Feb 1, four each on Feb 2 and 3, eight on Feb 4, and seven on Feb 5. — DayakDaily
