Five new cases pushes Tanjung Manis into Covid-19 orange zone

KUCHING, April 28: The five new Covid-19 cases reported in Tanjung Manis today have turned the district into a Covid-19 orange zone from its former yellow zone status.

According to reports from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), Tanjung Manis has turned into a Covid-19 orange zone with a cumulative total of 25 local infections in the past 14 days.


An orange zone of Covid-19 is a district or zone which reported 21 cases to 40 cases in the past two weeks.

With Tanjung Manis, the latest district to be classified as a Covid-19 orange zone, there are currently eight districts in Sarawak which are classified as orange zones.

They are Tanjung Manis, Sebauh, Bau, Julau, Betong, Kabong, Sri Aman and Marudi which reported a total of 238 cases of local transmission in the past fortnight.

Meanwhile, the number of districts classified as red zones of Covid-19 in Sarawak remains the same at 22.

They are Matu, Lundu, Pakan, Song, Tatau, Bukit Mabong, Belaga, Kanowit, Selangau, Saratok, Subis, Mukah, Sarikei, Beluru, Samarahan, Serian, Meradong, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu with a total of 7,516 cases of local infection in the past two weeks.

The number of yellow zones remains unchanged at nine.

They are Telang Usan, Lawas, Asajaya, Pusa, Dalat, Daro, Lubok Antu, Tebedu and Limbang which reported a cumulative 44 cases of local transmission in the past 14 days.

The only remaining green zone in Sarawak is Simunjan. — DayakDaily
