MIRI, July 15: Police this morning arrested five men at two separate locations here during ‘Ops Cantas’ for alleged involvement in a road rage incident.
The alleged assault was said to have occured at a traffic light intersection in Tudan on Sunday at about 4pm.
The victim, a 43-year-old cook, claimed that he and his wife were attacked repeatedly using helmets by the suspects and sustained body injuries.
According to sources, the attackers got angry with the victim after being advised not to ride their motorcycles recklessly.
A police report was lodged that same day.
The suspects, all locals aged from 18 to their late 30’s, were picked up to assist a police probe into the case.
The first four suspects were picked up from Lorong Mulia 3 in Tudan, while the fifth was at Jalan Chia Tze Chin.
The arrests were made around midnight and at 1.15am today.
The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting. — DayakDaily
