KUCHING, Feb 12: Five active Covid-19 clusters out of 16, registers an increase in new cases today.

Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) in a statement said the Pasai Cluster in Sibu and Seruas Cluster in Beluru recorded an increase of five cases each, while Jun Heng Cluster in Bintulu recorded three cases.


Nanga Lijan di Julau recorded an increase of two cases and one at Bintang Daily Cluster in Meradong.

The Pasai Cluster remains the largest active Covid-19 infection cluster in the Sarawak as it has recorded a total number of 2,424 cases.

SDMC disclosed that a total of 25,900 individuals under this cluster have been screened, of which 23,323 were negative while the remaining 153 are still awaiting laboratory test results.

As for Seruas Cluster, with the five new cases today, it has brought the total number of positive cases to 74.

A total of 250 individuals were screened, of which 168 tested negative for the virus while eight are awaiting their test results.

With three new cases recorded today, Jun Heng Cluster now has 26 positive cases, with a total of 217 individuals screened whereby 168 tested negative and 20 are still awaiting laboratory results.

To-date, Nanga Lijan Cluster and Bintang Daily Cluster has recorded 26 and 10 positive cases respectively.

Meanwhile, the remaining 11 active clusters which did not record any new cases today are Sebangkoi Cluster in Sri Aman; Jalan Pengiran Cluster in Matu; Tabong Cluster in Bau; Indah Riang Cluster in Kuching; Bedayan Cluster in Serian; Rakut Cluster in Miri; Bukit Sekubong Cluster in Sebauh; Jelita Cluster in Miri; Keranji Tabuan Cluster in Kuching; Bah Sayap Cluster in Miri and Stutong Cluster in Kuching.-DayakDaily
