Fisticuffs at roadside near Sarawak General Hospital results in 2 men being fined RM1,000 each

KUCHING, May 11: The Magistrate’s Court here fined two men who were involved in an affray at the roadside near the Sarawak General Hospital to a fine of RM1,000 respectively.

Jong Mei Ther, 46 and Yazid Roslian, 46 , pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 160 of the Penal code before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi.


Magistrate Zubaidah convicted them as charged and sentenced them to a fine of RM1,000 or in default to one month imprisonment respectively.

They were charged together with a charge of committing affray by fighting in public, near Jalan Hospital at about 2.30pm on April 28, 2022.

According to the brief facts of the case, they were fighting because both of them were rushing between their own vehicles.

Their acts were captured on video by a member of the public with the video subsequently going viral on social media.

They were both arrested by the police at their respective homes on April 29 after a security guard at the hospital lodged a police report regarding the incident.

Prosecuting Officer Inspector Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin prosecuted while both accused were unrepresented. — DayakDaily
