KUCHING, June 29: Fishing in public areas and cockfighting activities received the most number of compounds for Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) violations over a 24-hour period.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said the police had compounded 19 individuals for involvement in these two activities which are prohibited during the Movement Control Order (MCO).
Other SOP offences included not wearing face masks (8), being present in public areas after 10pm (7), vehicles carrying passengers exceeding the permitted limit (7), inter-district travel without permit (5), individuals not checking in via MySejahtera (4), failure to ensure employee attendance capacity for the public sector does not exceed 30 per cent (2), being outside of their homes during the Enhanced Movement Control Order (1), business premises operating without permission (1) and violating quarantine order (1).
This brings the total number of daily compounds issued to 55, comprising compounds issued in Kuching (22), Serian (13), Bintulu (5), Kanowit (5), Kota Samarahan (5), Miri (2), Sibu (1), Bau (1) and Padawan (1).
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Government and Housing (MLGH) has issued one each compound under the supervision of Kota Samarahan Municipal Council, Sri Aman District Council, Sibu Rural District Council and Miri City Council.
The violations included premises not updating or incomplete details in customer logbook (3) and operating beyond permitted hours (1).
The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Sarawak conducted 235 inspections statewide today, with three compounds issued in Miri. — DayakDaily
