Fishermen arrested for possessing methamphetamine

SIBU, July 25: Two fishermen have been arrested at an unnumbered house in Kampung Sungai Alo Mukah on Thursday for allegedly having dangerous drugs in their possession.

Mukah District Police Chief, DSP Jimmy Panyau said that the operation was carried out by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Mukah District Police Headquarters around 3.20 pm on Thursday.

“The results of the police search in the bedroom of the two suspects found a small transparent plastic package containing drug suspected to Methamphetamine with a gross weight of 0.28grammes on the floor in the room and another 0.17grammes of the same drug inside a waist pouch,” he said.

He said the two suspects, aged 27 and 30, were detained and then taken to Mukah District Police Headquarters for further investigation.

“The results of the urine screening test on the two suspects were found to be positive for drugs,” he said.

Both suspects are being investigated under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15 (1) (a) of the same Act.

The have been remanded for three days until July 27.—DayakDaily
