Fisherman remanded for four days to assist burglary investigation

MIRI, April 11: A local fisherman on Wednesday was remanded for four days by the Miri Magistrates Court to assist police investigation into a burglary case that happened at Piasau Utara 3C.

The suspect, 23, was arrested by a Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team on Tuesday afternoon following a report lodged by the complainant.

The burglary happened on Sunday (April 7). A total of RM775 in cash was stolen from the premises. The 21-year-old complainant discovered the incident around 6.54pm that same day.

The suspect was arrested at 4pm at a house in Jalan Piasau Utara on April 9.

Yesterday, Magistrate Kasyufurrahman Abang Ahmad ordered the suspect to be remanded for four days until April 14.

Investigating officer Inspector Mohammad Nasriq Noring had applied for a seven-day remand under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code for the suspect to complete the investigation. — DayakDaily
