KUCHING, Feb 14: First-term elected representatives Adam Yii (Pujut), Lidam Assan (Katibas) and Azizul Annuar Adenan (Tanjung Datu) believe that they can bring in more development for their respective constituencies as part of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex today, Yii was optimistic that the Stateā€™s development will carry on smoothly for the benefit of the people due to the strong mandate entrusted to the GPS government.

ā€œThe strong mandate augurs very well on our journey to attain our sovereignty and autonomy in whichever way deemed necessary especially with the recent amendment of the Federal Constitution.

ā€œWith that, I am very hopeful that for the next five years, it (future) will be very good for Sarawak,ā€ he said.

He also thanked the Chinese voters for supporting GPS and implied that bigger representation in the government will lead to more developments and improvement of facilities in urban areas.

Meanwhile, Lidam acknowledged that rural development is a daunting task but he was confident that the GPS would be able to pull through and achieve better results and improve livelihoods in rural areas especially in Katibas.

ā€œWe will bring in more development especially in socio-economy aspects, infrastructure and Internet connectivity.

ā€œThese are the voices of our people who are longing for development and through the (GPS) boat that we have now, we can trust and hope for a better Sarawak,ā€ he asserted.

At the same time, Azizul counted his blessings to be chosen to raise the voices of his constituents and the youths across the State.

ā€œI believe the present youths are not like those from past generations. Youths today are more demanding and have their own aspirations.

ā€œTherefore, we must be not leave them behind and take into account their aspirations in planning and formulating policies in Sarawak,ā€ he emphasised. ā€” DayakDaily
