MIRI, Oct 4: The upper floor of a double-storey bungalow at Jalan Acorus, Taman Wawasan was severely damaged by fire this morning.
Firefighter teams from the Miri station comprising 10 personnel were dispatched to the house, located some 13km away from the station, upon receiving the distress call at 2.26am
According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, the firefighters managed to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading further by 2.55am.
However, 50 per cent of the upper storey consisting of two bedrooms and one living room were destroyed.
The cause of the fire and estimated losses are still under investigation. No casualties or injuries were reported. — DayakDaily
