MIRI, Dec 21: Firefighters rescued three tenants including a minor from the upper floor rented rooms as fire raged through the two-storey building along North Yu Seng Road on Friday (Dec 20) night.
Heavy smoke and flames were seen crawling up the top floor building, which is located adjacent to an entertainment outlet, in the 11.15pm incident.
Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Supt Law Poh Kiong said fortunately, no injuries were reported.
A team of 17 firefighters in two fire trucks from Lopeng and Miri fire stations were dispatched to the scene upon receiving the emergency alert.
“They managed to pull out three tenants from the burning building, including a minor.
“The intense blaze was eventually brought under control around 11.50pm, leaving four of the five rented rooms (on the upper floor) destroyed,” he added.
The actual cause of the incident is not immediately known as investigations are underway.— DayakDaily
