KUCHING, June 29: Firefighters successfully persuaded a 29-year-old man to come down safely from the upper floor of a commercial building at Siang-Siang Corner, Batu 3, this afternoon.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received an emergency call at 2.32pm and dispatched a team from the Batu Lintang Fire and Rescue Station to the scene, about 3km away.
The team arrived at 2.36pm and found the man on the upper floor of the building.
Firefighters engaged the man in conversation and successfully persuaded him to come down safely before handing him over to the police for further action.
The operation was brought under control at 2.55pm and concluded two minutes later.
Nine firefighters, assisted by a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle, were involved in the operation.
