Firefighters rescue unconscious woman from Tanjung Datu forest

KUCHING, Oct 29: A 20-year old woman was rescued by firefighters after she was reported to have lost consciousness during a jungle trekking expedition in Tanjung Datu, Bintulu, today.

According to Bintulu Fire and Rescue (Bomba) department in a statement today, responding to the emergency call that was received at 3.04 pm, a team of nine firefighters led by PBK II Pero was deployed to the location about seven kilometers from the station.

“Firefighters arriving at the location confirmed the report, and immediately conducted an operation to search for the victim.


“The victim, who was found later in a conscious and weak condition, was carried out safely from the jungle area using a stretcher, before being handed over to the medical ambulance on standby at the location for further treatments,” it said.

The statement noted among other agencies involved in the operation was Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) and Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), together with members of the public.

“The rescue mission ended at 3.55 pm, and the firefighters returned to their station after ensuring that the situation was safe and under control,” the statement added. –DayakDaily.
