Firefighters rescue 73yo man trapped in burning home, rush man to hospital with burns

KUCHING, March 28: A 73-year-old man suffered burns on his face, hands and feet after firefighters pulled him out of a burning home at Sungai Maong Ulu 3 here, close to midnight yesterday (March 27).

In a report, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak Batu Lintang Station said that a 71-year-old woman managed to escape unhurt after a fire destroyed the two-storey house completely.

The Bomba Batu Lintang Station immediately deployed a team to the scene after receiving a distress call at 11.48pm.

When firefighters arrived, they discovered there were two elderly victims with one managing to escape the burning house while one victim trapped inside was rescued by the firefighters.

The elderly man was rushed by the Bomba EMRS team to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) to receive treatment.

The firefighters deployed two water jets to extinguish the flames and prevented the flames from spreading to nearby houses.

The fire was successfully put out at 12.39am.

The firefighters ended the operation at 5.13am after making sure that the situation was safe and there was no more source of sparks that could reignite a fire. — DayakDaily
