KUCHING, May 26: Firefighters had to hitch a ride with local villagers to attend to a fire incident in Pakan early this morning.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak operation centre in a report today said they received the call regarding the incident at 2.36am. Firefighters from Bomba Bintangor and Sarikei were deployed to Rh Jubang, Sungai Pinang, in Ulu Pakan.
According to the report, firefighters had difficulty in driving their fire engine to the location due to the road condition.
“After arriving at the location, firefighters then doused the flames by pumping water from a river nearby and the situation was brought under control at 5.20am,” it said.
In the incident, no casualty was reported. The blaze destroyed 70 per cent of a two-storey semi-permanent house. — DayakDaily
