SIBU, May 25: Two siblings have been apprehended for possession of two ganja seedlings yesterday.

Police believe that the duo, aged 55 and 50, started to get involved in drug activity two months ago.

“They were arrested at about 12.15am at a house in Lorong Rambai by the Narcotics Investigation Department,”said Sibu district police chief Zulkipli Suhaili at a press conference today.

The two siblings comprising a man, 55, and his sister, 50, were present when the police team showed up at a house.

An investigation revealed two black plastic bags containing two ganja seedlings and dry leaves believed to be ganja worth a total of RM20,000.

“A car worth RM80,000 was also seized from them,” Zulkipli said.

Urine tests on the two suspects came back negative for drug.

“The duo do not have previous record of crime cases” Zulkipli said, adding the police are looking for an accomplice of the duo.

The suspects have been remanded for four days to assist the investigation under Section 68 of the Dangerous Drug Act 2952.
