SRI AMAN, Aug 10: Firefighters managed to extinguish a bush fire that razed through 2.4 hectares of land at Tebaruk Plantation in Sri Aman on the third day of the operation.
In a report from the Fire and Rescue Department, the operation ended at 1.10pm.
“Firefighting operations were carried out using an open water source from a drain located 1km away, and the vehicle made repeated trips to refill with water,” said the report.
Initially, it was reported that the fire involved 1.6 hectares.
The fire was reported at about 7.50pm on Aug 8, with personnel from the Sri Aman station arriving at the scene at 8.08pm, about 17km from the station.
Meanwhile, firefighters in Kapit have extinguished a landfill fire at Bukit Goram on the second day of the operation today.

In a separate incident, the fire, which involved 0.2 hectares of land, was fully put out by 3.32pm, bringing the operation to a close.
The firefighting operation was assisted by an excavator owned by the Kapit District Council.
The fire was first reported after a call received at 4.23pm on Aug 9, and firefighters from the Kapit station were deployed. — DayakDaily
