Due to the plantation’s remote location and distance from the fire station, the team arrived at the scene at 6.40pm. Upon the arrival, it was found that one block of the workers’ quarters, a wooden structure, had been completely destroyed by the fire.

“The fire only involved Block B while Block A was unaffected. All 45 residents, comprising of both citizens and non-citizens, managed to escape and there were no injuries reported,” it said.

No firefighting action was required as the fire had already burned out by the time the firefighters arrived at the location.
