KUCHING, July 11: A fire broke out at a used-car premises that has been converted into workers’ quarters for Langkau Arau Dayak (Rumah Asap) at Jalan Stutong here this afternoon.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak reported that the fire completely destroyed the workers’ quarters as well as several used cars.
Bomba’s operation centre received a distress call at 1.34pm and swiftly dispatched teams from Tabuan Jaya and Padungan stations to the scene.
The firefighters successfully contained the fire at about 2pm, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.
A video capturing the fire incident at the popular Dayak eatery quickly went viral on social media platforms, including WhatsApp.
According to Democractic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak member Michael Kong, the fire did not affect the main eatery area.
Therefore, the stall owners are still able to continue their business operations tonight.
Kong further mentioned that minor cleaning efforts are currently underway to remove any hazardous items and ensure the safety of customers. — DayakDaily
