KUCHING, March 5: A fire at Kampung Tabuan Melayu in Tabuan Jaya today completely destroyed two houses and partially damaged another.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Tabuan Jaya responded to the emergency at 6pm and a team of firefighters was immediately dispatched to the scene with assistance from Bomba Padungan and Batu Lintang.
A two-story house housing five families (12 residents) and a single-story house occupied by two families (6 residents) were completely destroyed.
A third house, home to five residents, sustained 30 per cent damage.
Firefighters used two hose lines with water sourced from a fire hydrant and a portable pump for relay pumping to contain the blaze.
As of press time, firefighters are still carrying out overhaul operations at the scene. — DayakDaily
