BETONG, April 15: Fire disaster relief worth RM68,300 will be channeled to the 30 fire victims of Rh August Ban Ulu, which housed 11 doors and seven families.
Deputy Minister for Community Wellbeing Development Mohammad Razi Sitam visited the Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) at Dewan Panglima Rentap here today to symbolically hand over the aid.
The total contribution consisted of RM3,000 in relief money, RM3,000 worth of clothes, RM1,500 worth of dry foods, RM4,900 worth of kitchen appliances, RM900 worth of school supplies for children, and RM55,000 for construction purposes and rental.
Some of the early assistance to the victims included presenting victims with packaged food three times a day, 26 sets of mattress, blanket and pillow, 30 sets of hygiene kits with towels, and 60 sets of ‘sarung’ fabric.
The longhouse fire happened at 10.25am on Tuesday (April 12). Among the 30 victims, two are still currently hospitalised.
The PPS at Dewan Panglima Rentap was set up immediately at 3pm on the day of the incident, involving at least 40 members of various agencies or parties namely the Welfare Department (JKM), Civil Defence Department (APM), Ministry of Health (KKM), resident’s office and volunteers.
