Fire destroys two houses, damage two others in Bintulu

The two houses in Taman Lucky, Bintulu, which were destroyed by a fire this evening.

KUCHING, Jan 22: Two houses were destroyed while two others were badly damaged in an evening fire incident at Jalan Durian Burung, in Taman Lucky, Bintulu, today.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre in a statement today, they received the report regarding the incident at 2.09 pm, and a team of 10 firefighters from Bintulu fire station were deployed to the location led by PBK II Stephen Plen, together with PBK II Wan Kamarudin Wan Ahmad, PPgB Hambali Mohamad, PPgB Irwin Abidin and PKPgB Bujang Jumat.

“Operation commander TPgB I Cristus Anak Buson, who arrived at the location with the firefighters reported that the incident occurred at a two-storey terrace house, which caught on fire on the upper floor.


“The incident saw two of the houses were 100 per cent destroyed, while two others were damaged for 80 per cent,” it said.

The statement noted, no casualties were reported during the incident and the operation ended at 5.27 pm.

“The house’s occupants managed to escape safely when the incident occurred. The total loss and cause of the fire are still being investigated,” the statement added. –DayakDaily.
