Upon arrival, firefighters found the blaze had engulfed three non-permanent blocks of workers’ quarters, comprising a total of 10 units. The entire structure, covering an estimated area of 195 by 98 square feet, was completely destroyed.

Before firefighters arrived, workers at the site had attempted to control the blaze by creating a firebreak using an excavator, successfully preventing the flames from spreading to nearby blocks.

Firefighters extinguished the fire using a 300-foot hose connected to a machinery pump and an open water source from a nearby pond. Overhaul operations were conducted to ensure there were no remaining sources of ignition.

Once the area was declared safe, the team returned to the station.

The cause of the fire and the estimated value of the losses are still under investigation. – DayakDaily
