Fire destroys nine two-decade old shophouses in Beluru

BELURU, May 12: A fire razed nine wooden shophouses in Beluru, Bakong on Saturday morning.

Firefighters from Marudi and Miri fire stations rushed to the scene located about 80km from Miri after receiving an emergency call on the incident which occurred around 12.48am (May 12).

They arrived at the scene around 2.10am and managed to bring the fire under control at 3.50am. No casualties were reported in the incident.

The raging blaze destroyed the 20-year-old shophouses.

The actual cause of the incident is not immediately known as investigations are underway.

A forensic team was also deployed to the scene to investigate the incident. — DayakDaily
