Fire breaks out at Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency building in Miri

The fire started on the roof of the building.

MIRI, Oct 10: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency’s (MMEA) building at Pulau Melayu 1, which is still under construction, caught fire late on Tuesday evening.

Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (BombA) Operation Centre said the fire had broken out at the building’s roof, destroying seven water tanks at the scene.


Bomba received a call at 5.34pm, and firefighters from three fire stations (Lopeng, Miri Sentral, and Lutong) were dispatched to the scene.

Upon their arrival at the scene, firefighters immediately established a water supply from the hydrant to the eighth floor of the building.

As of 7.30pm, firefighters are conducting overhaul works at the scene. — DayakDaily
