KUCHING, Aug 21: The adoption of the annual report, acceptance of the audited financial statement, proposed amendments to the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) constitution, motions from constituent members, appointment of an auditor, decision on the next AGM venue, and other matters will be discussed at the ACCCIS Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025.
According to a press release, the AGM will be held on Saturday, Sept 6, 2025, at 9am at the Imperial Hotel, Miri, and will be officiated by Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, who will attend as the guest of honour.
“ACCCIS comprises 22 constituent members across 12 divisions in Sarawak, including Kuching, Simanggang, Sibu, Miri, Sarikei, Bintulu, Limbang, Bau, Serian, Saratok, Bintangor, Kapit, Daro, Mukah, Batu Niah, Song, Sibuti, Baram, Lawas, Betong, Kanowit, and Selangau & Satapang,” it said.
Representatives from various divisions will gather for the two-day programme, which begins on Sept 5 with a series of activities.
On Sept 5, the programme will kick off with a welcoming lunch hosted by the Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) at the Imperial Hotel at 12pm.
“At 1.30pm, the ACCCIS Young Entrepreneurs Conference 2025 will take place, with Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew as the guest of honour. A preparatory meeting for the ACCCIS AGM will follow at 3pm, while in the evening at 6.30pm, MCCCI will host its 100th Anniversary Celebration Dinner in conjunction with the 11th Anniversary of the Young Entrepreneurs Committee,” the press release stated.
The ACCCIS Young Entrepreneurs Conference 2025 serves as a platform for young entrepreneurs across Sarawak to strengthen interaction, foster communication, and cultivate business opportunities and networks.
“The annual event welcomes the participation of young entrepreneurs from all over the state.”
This year, the conference will feature the launch of the inaugural ACCCIS Young Entrepreneurs Outstanding Awards 2025, which aims to recognise young entrepreneurs for their exceptional achievements and contributions, granting them wider acknowledgment for their success.
The programme will also include sharing sessions by representatives of MBSB Bank and Pay & Go chief executive officer Eddie Wee.
On Sept 6, the AGM will open with speeches from MCCCI president Ling Chiong Sing, ACCCIS president Kong Chiong Ung, ACCCIM president Datuk Ng Yih Pyng, and guest of honour Dr Sim.
The ceremony will also include presentation of awards for the 2024/2025 Membership Drive Campaign and a souvenir to the guest of honour.
Following the AGM, a tax seminar titled “Key Points on Malaysia’s Tax Reform” will be presented by JP Datuk Kong Ling Long, national treasurer cum chairman of the SME Committee of the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM).
