KUCHING, Sept 27: A total of 12 rain gauge stations for Sarawak and Sabah are applying for approval of allocation by the Finance Ministry.
Minister of Works Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said there are presently 35 well-maintained rain gauge stations situated on critical slopes along the Federal Highway in Peninsular Malaysia. These stations are located in Pahang, Kelantan, Kedah, Perak and Selangor.
“Current warning limits will be displayed on the JKR (Public Works Department) Slope Early Warning System website.
“A warning through a short message system will be received when the rainfall rate exceeds the threshold value as an early warning of landslides,” he said in a statement today.
Nanta also mentioned that road disaster status information can be obtained through the JKR disaster portal at http://bencanaalam.jkr.gov.my, its official X accounts such as @JKRMalaysia, @CSFJ_JKR, and Jabatan Kerja Raya Malaysia’s official Facebook page.
To report road damage or issues arising during the monsoon season, the public may contact the Disaster Operation Room (BiGBen) hotline at 03-26107559/7727.
BiGBen operates as the centralised hub for disaster data management, covering incidents such as floods, landslides, road collapses, sunken roads, and damaged or collapsed bridges on Federal and State roads under JKR’s jurisdiction across Malaysia.
Furthermore, citizens can conveniently relay information about road damages and routes affected by the monsoon season via the MyJalan mobile application.
Users can capture photos, specify locations of concern, choose the type of issue, provide complaint details, and submit them online for prompt action. ā DayakDaily
