BINTANGOR, July 29: An assistant juragan of a ferry collapsed and died while at work at Sungai Sian today.
Bintangor district police chief, DSP Sekam Anoi said at about 1.30pm today, his department received a distress call from the operator of the ferry that one of his assistant juragans, Darling Sagau, 60, suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed on the ferry.
“Paramedics from the Bintangor Health Clinic rushed to the scene and later pronounced him dead on the spot,” he added.
Seven firemen from Bintangor Station were also dispatched to the ferry to render assistance.
“At this moment, we do not know the cause of the man’s death. But it is learned that he had high blood pressure and diabetes,” he added.
The case has been classified as sudden death.—DayakDaily
