Federal govt allocates RM2.83 mln to assist Sarawak disaster victims

KUCHING, March 24: The Federal government has allocated a special fund of RM2,831,000 to assist disaster victims in Sarawak, including those affected by floods, fires, and landslides.

According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report, Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof handed over the aid to Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who also serves as chairman of the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

The aid, announced by Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, includes RM1,000 in cash assistance for each affected family.

A total of RM2,783,000 will be distributed to 2,783 families impacted by the floods, with coordination by SDMC.

In addition, RM9,000 will be given to nine families in Rumah Paulus, Sungai Bawan, Kanowit, affected by fire, and RM31,000 will be allocated to 31 families in Miri impacted by landslides. Eight families in Bintulu will also receive RM8,000.

This assistance is part of the government’s efforts to ensure the well-being of those affected by natural disasters.

The meeting was attended by Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, and other key government officials. — DayakDaily
