Federal Deputy Minister: Improve local leaders, JKKK members’ knowledge, skills to facilitate progress, village devt

LIMBANG, April 12: Every local leader and member of village development and security committees (JKKKs) must be equipped with knowledge and skills including those concerning aspects of organisational management.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Deputy Minister of Rural Development Datuk Hasbi Habibollah said it is important to hold a workshop to empower and improve the skills of local leaders.

“This is because the effectiveness of governance at the village level helps facilitate progress and development of the village,” he said when officiating at the JKKK Briefing and Workshop Series 1/2022 organised by Bisaya Village Chiefs and Community Leaders Council (MKMKKB) of Ukong area last Saturday (April 9).


A total of 70 people consisting of JKKK chairpersons and members as well as village heads in the Ukong area attended the workshop.

Meanwhile, Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang explained that a total of 30 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects have been planned and will be implemented this year.

An allocation of RM10,000 was also announced for each JKKK and MKMKKB for this year. — DayakDaily
