KUCHING, March 19: The Federal Court today unanimously dismissed the appeal of an Indonesian worker who was convicted and sentenced to death for murder.

President of the Court of Appeal Tan Sri Ahmad Maarop, who chaired a five-man panel, ruled that the appeal by Yosep Yangubani lacked merit. He, thus, affirmed the conviction and death sentence meted out on him.

Yosep was found guilty by the Sibu High Court of murdering Ropinas Muda Tabu at an oil palm estate in Sungai Luam, Mukah, on Aug 5, 2014, between 12am and 12.30am.

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death sentence upon conviction.
His appeal to the Court of Appeal was also dismissed.

Yosep was represented by Counsel Ranbir Singh Sangha, while DPP Dato Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar appeared for the respondent. — DayakDaily
