KUCHING, April 5: A total of 34,125 food packs have been distributed to those staying at quarantine centres statewide since March 16 until today.
According to State Food Supply Committee deputy chairwoman Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah in a statement, the food dropped off by caterers at designated areas selected by the Health Department also included that meant for frontliners on duty at the centres.
Fatimah, who is also Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister, disclosed 20 quarantine centres have been set up in Sarawak, with 18 that are still active while the remaining two have been closed.
Meanwhile, she gave assurance that members of the committee who are all under home quarantine will continue to work from home to ensure that food supplies are delivered accordingly.
“We continue to solve problems by communicating with one another through phone,” Fatimah added.
Meanwhile, she revealed that committee members are scheduled to undergo Covid-19 screening tomorrow (April 6) and within one or two days later, they should know whether they are Covid-19 positive or negative.
“I received an order for Supervision and Observation for Covid-19 from Health Department Sarawak for 14 days from March 27 until April 10. For me and the others who had received the same order, it is indeed a trying time.
“Each time I feel dryness in the throat, a sneeze or a cough coming up I get slightly anxious. My husband and I were asked to be on the lookout for symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Furthermore both of us are in the high risk age group,” she added.
Since the news broke out that she had to undergo home quarantine, Fatimah added that she had received more WhatsApp notifications than usual, and she is thankful for the numerous comforting words, advice and encouragement was received as it was spiritually uplifting for her.
