MIRI, June 11: A young mechanic died in a self-accident involving a motorcycle at KM75 of the Miri-Bintulu Road on Monday (JUne 10) afternoon, which also left his pillion rider injured.
According to State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, the injured pillion rider, identified as Patrick John, 22, who is also a mechanic, was transported to Miri Hospital for further treatment following the 12pm incident.
“Johannes Tebun Ngang, 18, the rider, died on the spot due to serious injuries he sustained in the mishap,” he added.
Johannes’s body have been taken to Miri Hospital’s morgue for a post mortem.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle en route to Bintulu from Miri went out of control upon approaching the area,” said Alexson.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
