Fatal collision claims two lives, injures one near Kejapil junction

The car was badly damaged in the accident.

MIRI, Jan 27: Two people were killed and another sustained light injuries in a head-on-collision involving a motorcycle and a car yesterday afternoon near the Kejapil junction.

According to State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, the deceased were the motorcycle rider and pillion rider, both aged 20.


They were heading towards Bintulu from Miri when the collision took place.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the motorcycle had swerved into the car’s lane upon reaching the scene.

“The pillion rider died on the spot, while the rider succumbed to his injuries in Miri Hospital,” revealed Alexson.

Meanwhile the car driver, a female school teacher, aged 43, sustained light injuries in the 12.50pm incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
