KUCHING, June 21: A lorry driver was instantly killed after the vehicle he drove collided with a van at Kelaoh junction in Lundu this afternoon.
According to Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a team from the Lundu firestation was despatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 12.10pm.
Upon reaching the location, the team discovered that the accident involved a pick-up truck and a Toyota Hiace van.
The truck driver was pinned behind the wheel, while the van driver managed to get out on his own before the arrival of firefighters.
Firefighters extracted the trapped truck driver and the latter was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was handed over to the police for further action.
The van driver who suffered minor injuries, was transferred using ambulance to a hospital for medical attention.
Additionally, firefighters also cleared the road of debris and ensured the site was safe before concluding the operation. — DayakDaily
