Family of three escape house fire in Sarikei

SARIKEI, April 28: A family of three were lucky to escape unhurt after a fire broke out in their home this afternoon.

Firefighters were called to a semi-permanent double-storey house at Jalan Ma Lock II, Jalan Sg Rusa at 3.16pm

Sarikei fire station chief Mahmudin Narudin revealed a total of 14 firefighters were despatched to the location, about 22km away.

“Upon arrival, heavy flames were seen inside the house. Firefighters initiated an aggressive interior and exterior attack to extinguish the fire with water sourced from a nearby stream,” Mahmudin disclosed in a statement.

No one was injured in the incident as the people inside the house had safely evacuated before firefighters arrived at the scene.

The cause of fire is under investigation. — DayakDaily
