MIRI, Oct 24: A housewife from Miri lost RM6,000 after falling victim to a fake part-time job offer advertised on Facebook this month, says Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu.

He said, the victim, in her 40s, fell victim to a syndicate operating on social media platforms after she was lured by promises of lucrative part-time job opportunities.

Alexson added, that the victim came across an advertisement on Facebook page offering part-time employment.

“She was instructed to register her personal details on a website (HTTP://BLACKMARTAAPPSTORE.COM) and was given several tasks such as clicking ‘like’ on items on the website and for each ‘like’ she was promised lucrative commissions,” Alexson said.

He added the housewife made payments to four different bank accounts between October 19 to October 21 for every assignment she was given.

“For the first assignment, she received commission payment, but not the following tasks until the last (7th commission),” Alexson disclosed.

He said, the victim has lodged a police report on Monday (October 23) and the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code. — DayakDaily
